Ambition Metallic Silver Edition Release

These will go on sale Tuesday August 30th at 9am PST and 18h CEST HERE

Ambition Silver 18×24 inches (46x61cm)

2 color Serigraph on 100lb (270gsm) Cover stock

edition of 100 signed and numbered with certificate of authentication

These were printed with a metallic silver ink, because of it’s reflective nature the text changes depending on the angle of light and your position to the print. The paper used is 100% post consumer recycled and certified forest friendly from The French Paper Company in Michigan. The facility is run by its own in-house Hydro-electric power. This renewable power has avoided 700,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. Surplus power is supplied to the local community. The inks used are water based solvent free acrylic.

We all need to start making better informed decisions about what we consume and it’s impact, even artists. Recently I have begun thinking more and more about the materials I use and finding some really good solutions and alternatives. I’m happy to be discovering better ways to print and better materials to reduce waste and pollution. I know this is a small step but a worthy step. As the consequences of climate change continue to have catastrophic results I will do my part to try to continue to find better solutions in my art process and give collectors something they can feel better about owning as well.

Ambition – Etched Metal Plate Release

As a Pow Wow Hawaii Alumni I was asked to be  part of  1xrun’s Pow Wow Hawaii Print Series this year. I decided to do an edition of the piece I did at Pow Wow 2012.

PW-2012-1

I produced 2 versions of the “Ambition” image as chemical etched metal plates. Each plate is .030″ and 16×20 inches They are available in stainless steel, edition of 100 and Brass edition of 15. Each edition is signed and numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity from myself and 1xrun. These drop Monday, February 22nd at 12noon PST. The brass edition is available HERE and the stainless steel edition is  HERE

The etching process gives the surface an engraved or intaglio of the image which is then filled with paint. I choose this process to give the pieces some weight and dimensionality and create an object more than a print. eddie-colla-ambition-18x24-gold-1xrun-05eddie-colla-ambition-18x24-silver-1xrun-05aeddie-colla-ambition-18x24-silver-1xrun-06a

D Young V X Eddie Colla “Memento Mori”

Art Works Downtown is excited to present: “Memento Mori” a unique two-man exhibition by Bay Area artists Eddie Colla & D Young V.

Memento Mori, a Latin term for ‘remember death’, is an artistic symbol for remembering the inevitability of death, and is a continuing theme throughout Eddie Colla’s and D Young V’s work. The artists’ installations depict the end of the world juxtaposed to the rising up of a new world from ashes, and a future reduced to the tasks of survival and memory.

The show opens Friday, August 30, 2013 and runs through Friday, October 11, 2013 in the Art Works Downtown main gallery located at 1337 Fourth Street, San Rafael, CA, 94901. An opening reception will be held on September 13, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. A closing reception will be held on October 11, 2013, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Art Works Downtown is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Included in this exhibit are the individual artists’ drawings and mixed media works on found objects. The gallery will also showcase a number of collaborative pieces designed specially for Art Works Downtown. These installations represent years of artistic collaboration, both on the street and in galleries, where their mutual styles, ideas, influences, and perceptions become clearly evident.

Mona Lisa- live at budokan – Eddie Colla

So back in march Warholian.com teamed up with Project One to put on the Warhol Reimagined show. Artists got to choose a Warhol piece to reinterpret. I wanted Mao, but someone already got it. So, I took the Mona Lisa.

here’s my piece “live at budokan”

Eddie Colla @ Candybar SF

Back sometime in January, Tan from CandyBar asked if I’d be interested in doin some work on the walls. There were 2 fat walls, so rather then hang some work I thought it would be cool to just fill the whole space with 2 8ftx 8ft pasters. It will be up indefinitely. Go check and get some crazy good desserts . Thanks To Tan for the Walls and Ramon for puttin in work on the install.

Warhol Reimagined – The New Factory

Warhol Reimagined – The New Factory presented by Warholian.com and Project one gallery.

For Warhol Reimagined we’ve asked some of the best talent in the art world today to come forward and rework some of Warhol’s classic imagery.
Our featured artists were given 20″x 26″ panels, and we’re asked to pick from a selection of over 60 of Warhol’s works. The works were chosen based on their importance in Warhol’s history as an artist and overall representational aesthetic. The artists have been asked to reinterpert the Warhol image they have selected into their own style.
Andy Warhol is best known for his Campbell’s soup can works that were first displayed at Ferus Gallery in Los Angeles in 1962. These works now hang in the Museum of Modern Art in New York. We’ve chosen to recreate the MOMA display by utilizing the talents of 32 well known and emerging artists – each reimagining a different can in their own light.
Warhol Reimagined: The New Factory is curated by Warholian.com and this will be their first ever art show for the newly established arts brand. Warholian exposes the “New Artist Movement” genre emerging in Los Angeles, New York, and namely San Francisco.

The show is being presented by Project One, an art gallery and lounge in the Design District of San Francisco. Project One gallery features 1200 sq feet of open gallery space with 20 foot ceilings. The gallery represents local, national and international artists, and focuses on contemporary art from artists they love.

This show opens Thursday March 10th @ 7pm
Project one gallery is located at
251 Rhode Island
San Francisco, CA

Come by and see what promises to be one of the best shows of the season.
